About Us

Founded in 1987, Body Aware has continuously redefined men’s underwear by challenging conventional design and engineering superior, stylish products. Our early vision was to move beyond traditional, uninspired styles by offering intimate apparel that combines aesthetics, functionality, and quality.

Initially launched as a mail-order venture under the name Shamian Silks, the company introduced a capsule collection of meticulously designed men's and women's underwear that defied the uninspired norms of the era. This innovative approach and the immediate success of the men's collection quickly set the foundation for what would become a pioneering brand in men’s underwear.

By 1990, operations had moved from a home workshop to commercial premises in Trowbridge, England, where establishing an in-house manufacturing facility allowed the design department to go from drawing board to production in a matter of days. This period of accelerated growth led to a rebranding as Body Aware Ltd.

With the internet and e-commerce opening new opportunities in the mid 1990's, we launched BodyAware.com to expand our global footprint and reinforce our reputation for innovation. The formation of Body Aware Inc. in Santa Rosa, California came soon after, and finally our strategic head office relocation to more business-friendly Scottsdale, Arizona, enabled us to centralize design, pattern drafting, and sample production, ensuring consistent quality. In 2016, a UK distribution center was reopened to better serve our longstanding UK and European customer base.

Today, we remain committed to setting industry standards through superior quality and innovative design, offering men’s underwear that redefines comfort and style for a modern audience.
